Value Chain Specialist
The Food and Agricultural Products Quality Development and Control Project (FAPQDC) funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) during 2008-2013 has been implemented by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with University of Montreal, Canada. The general objective of the FAPQDC project is to improve the quality, safety and marketability of agricultural food products through strengthened application of good production practices (GPP) and quality control systems. The FAPQDC project is looking for a Value Chain Specialist for Food of animal origin production (Pork and Poultry Commodity). The selected candidate will work full-time at the Project Management Unit (PMU) starting March 2010 for a one-year contract with extension possibility.
Value chain specialist for FOOD OF ANIMAL ORIGIN PRODUCTION (PORK AND POULTRY COMMODITY)
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
The person will work closely with PMU and the field experts of technical committees (Vietnamese and Canadian) :
- Participate in the design of the implementation of the pilot projects on application of GPP for food of animal (pork and poultry) value chain
- Coordinating all the activities implemented at the pilot projects
- Carry out the day to day operational management of the pilot projects in line with the project policies and procedures
- Participate and manage quality controls around all technical aspects of the pilot projects
- Manage timely completion of inputs and outputs as per project work schedule
- Develop and maintain good relations with local government partners and stakeholders
- Undertake frequent fieldtrips to project pilot areas
- Carry out other relevant duties as may required by the Project
Requirements:
- Vietnamese nationality
- Have BSc degree (MSc preferably) in Animal Husbandry/Veterinary Science/ General agriculture/ food technologies or relevant fields
- At least 7-10 years of work experience in agricultural products quality and safety control
- Willing and be able to frequently travel to provinces within Vietnam
- Good interpersonal, communication, organizational and team work skills as well as work independently
- Proficient English and Good Computer skills
- Experience in project management
- Knowledge of farm and off-farm sectors of pork and poultry production in Vietnam
