Senior Project Officer, Central Region

Challenge to Change is a British NGO based in Hue City, supporting poor communities in Vietnam, especially in vulnerable coastal regions, to adapt to the impact of climate change.  They are now looking for a Senior Project Officer (Vietnamese) to coordinate our work in Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue Provinces.  Their projects in these locations involve supporting local government planning to build resilience to climate change, and supporting community-based initiatives on adaptation, with a focus on poor and vulnerable groups.

Currently, the time expected to be spent in each of Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue is approximately 65% in Hue and 35% in Da Nang.  This is an evolving position and therefore this division of time may change during the coming year.  The requirements for the position are as follows: experience of participatory community development and community-based disaster risk management; good training skills; significant experience in a similar NGO/development organisation; understanding of a range of development issues and sectors including gender; good English language skills (spoken and written) and interpersonal skills, and ability to produce outputs of high quality in a fixed timeframe; flexibility to travel to project sites, and a commitment to rural development especially the needs of the poor.  This is initially a 2 year contract, with possibility to extend.

To apply, please send a CV and a cover letter explaining how you meet the requirements above, and why you are interested in the position, to the Programme Administrator, [email protected].  Closing date for applications is Monday 21st December 2009.
