Senior Communications Officer

Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) is a National NGO which inherits the experience of CIDSE’s 27 years working in poverty alleviation in Vietnam. We empower disadvantaged communities in rural and mountainous areas to sustainably manage their own livelihood systems, regardless of ethnic group, gender, or religious belief. SRD currently focuses on sustainable agriculture, rural livelihoods, local governance, and pro-poor policy advocacy.
The Senior Communications Officer will be responsible for all aspects of SRD communications. You will be a highly-motivated, results-driven individual who can take on diverse tasks, while delivering high-quality communications. The majority of your time will be spent on SRD communications activities. However, you will also be required to perform communications activities for the Vietnamese Civil Society Organization – of which SRD is the lead organization.
You will be working as leader of SRD’s current communications team, including two fulltime staff and several part-time assistants. The team will look to you for direction and leadership, fair delegation of tasks, and a pro-active, positive attitude to support them.

General responsibility: Ensuring effective internal and external communications 
1.1. Take lead in all internal and external communications, including media and events, donor correspondence and Project Officer support
1.2. Producing and managing high-quality English and Vietnamese SRD communication materials (leaflets, fact sheet, annual report, etc.) for external audiences from concept to delivery.
1.3. Publishing and circulating SRD E-newsletter issued on a bi-annual basis.
1.4. Building and maintaining general knowledge about SRD projects and activities by attending program meetings and joining field visits with Project Officers.
1.5. Writing case studies, press releases and other general external communications
1.6. Responding to external inquiries for general information on SRD.
1.7. Prepare annual reports. Collate project information from Project Officers, write case studies and liaise with Graphic Designers.
1.9. Initiating activities toward setting-up Communication Network among NGOs.
1.11. Respond to donors information and communications requests where appropriate/relevant, such as requests for stories, case studies or annual reports.
2.3. Maintaining/updating information on SRD web sites. 
2.4. Undertake annual communications assessments and edit communications strategies and needed. Report finds to SRD Director
2.5. Monitor and research trends in NGO communications

Successful Applicants will have:
- Communications Degree or equivalent and three to five years working experience in communications or journalism role
- Experience writing press-releases and case studies
- Exceptional English and Vietnamese communication skills, both written and verbal. In particular strong copy-writing skills for newsletters, brochures and websites
- Strategic and logical thinking
- Out-going and pro-active
- High attention to detail
- Creativity
- Willing to travel to project sites of SRD as required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer

Desired:
- Web management experience 
- Previous experience working for a non-government organization (NGO)
- Experience liaising with media
- Understanding of design and print processes, including experience briefing graphic designers
- Knowledge on climate change issues a bonus

Remuneration: Net income would be from 500 – 800 USD per month depending on qualifications and competitiveness.
