Qualified Research Institution to Carry Out a Study “Understanding the Impact of Volunteerism on Socio-Economic Development in Vietnam”

The UNV-funded project “Strengthening capacity of Volunteerism for Development in Vietnam (VDVN Project)” implemented by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) is seeking for a qualified research institution to carry out a study “Understanding the impact of volunteerism on socio-economic development in Vietnam”

Objectives of the research are to:
1. Generate improved information and understanding on activities implemented by volunteers and VIOs in Vietnam
2. Elicit information and deepen knowledge and understanding  on how volunteerism has contributed to socio-economic development in Viet Nam;
3. Identify key challenges and opportunities to enhance role of volunteer actions for development;
4. Provide empirical evidences for any future policy recommendations concerning volunteerism and development.

Within 90-100 pages, the study will focus strategically on:
- Past and current practices of volunteerisms;
- Community development and personal development approaches of volunteer actions;
- Review of existing literature on V4D in Viet Nam;
- Contribution of Volunteer action on socio-economic development- Strengths, Opportunities, Limitations and Threats;
- Gender aspects of volunteering and development;
- Volunteerism and development of global partnerships for the millennium development goals
- Current and past policies on Volunteerism and development;

Time schedule: 4 months starting from the middle of September.

Interested institutions should send a proposal presenting: a) Past and current experience of conducting research of this nature; b) Available full time human resource; c) Legal identity and standings i.e registered with government or anchored to an academic institution such as University; d) A research proposal that details proposed research techniques and methodologies and e)  proposed consultancy fee to VDVN Project Office, Floor 2, No 62 Ba Trieu street, Hanoi no later than 15th September 2010. Only short listed organizations will be invited to an interview followed by a presentation on their proposed research plan and methodology.
