Programme Assistant

The World Population Foundation (WPF) is a Dutch Non-Governmental Organisation aiming to improve sexual and reproductive health and ensuring sexual and reproductive rights in Asia and Africa. WPF also advocates with policy makers in Europe. In 2000, WPF established an office in Hanoi to more effectively manage and expand its programme.  WPF’s Country Strategy in Vietnam focuses on improving sexual and reproductive health for adolescents and young people, largely through sexuality education.  They are now seeking an energetic person for the vacancy of:
Programme Assistant (initial 12 month contract)
Within the agreed programme framework, the Programme Assistant will provide support to the Programme Team to ensure the highest quality of work and also contribute to the wider running and development of the WPF Vietnam office.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Program Manager and Project Managers in preparing and organizing workshops/training;
- Assist in monitoring project activities
- Liaise with partners and consultants on project implementation issues;
- Manage project logistic tasks;
- Prepare activity budgets, payment requests and manage expenses in the field
- Draft project-related official correspondence and documents;
- Translate documents from English to Vietnamese and Vietnamese to English
- Provide English-Vietnamese and Vietnamese-English interpreting service in meetings or whenever required
- Draft monthly/quarterly working plans for program operation based on planning meetings, trip reports, progress reports and end-of-project reports;
- Conduct frequent field travel as required.
- Participate in all required office meetings;
- Work together with other team members in a way that promotes a good team spirit and effective coordination;

Essential:
-Awareness of social development issues including gender
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work accurately under pressure
- Proven interest in public health issues
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Willingness to travel to project sites on a regular basis (estimated at 10-20% of time, but there are no upper or lower limits)
- Flexibility in work including a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations
- Track record of voluntary work
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Strong spoken and written English and Vietnamese
- Bachelor’s degree

Desirable:
- Experience of working with NGOs
- Proven interest in sexual and reproductive health issues
- Masters degree in relevant subject (public health, social sciences etc)
