DK Shrimp Project Coordinator in HCMC

I. Major Functions:
Responsible for delivery of the project “Promoting Certification and Better Management Practices Among Small-scale Shrimp Farmers in Vietnam” and to support the development WWF VN’s aquaculture
programme
   
II. Major Duties and Accountabilities:
- Through project implementation, develop a strong presence of WWF in aquaculture that transforms the industry through standards, certification and best management practices resulting in significant
conservation outcomes for biodiversity in the Mekong Delta;
- Conduct activities and manage project, project staff and consultants for delivery on time and within budget to meet or exceed donor expectations, including providing technical leadership, and completing work plans, technical reporting and financial oversight;
- Initiate and develop partnerships with key shrimp private sector players in Vietnam and internationally and build linkages between producers, processors, retailers and consumers to increase the demand for and conservation benefits from certified aquaculture products, coordinate these activities with WWF Network offices in importing counties;
- Gain support for aquaculture BMPs and certification among public sector institutions and regulatory bodies and promote partnerships and policies in support of sustainable aquaculture, coordinate linkages and work programmes with GoV counterparts and seek cooperation with other relevant projects: provincial, national and NGO-supported;
- Communicate project achievements within WWF Network and to external audiences; 
- Facilitate monitoring and evaluation of the project;
- Monitor issues and trends in shrimp aquaculture relevant to BMPs and particularly those that relate to standards development.

IV. Working Relationships:
1. Internal:  
- Work closely with WWF Hanoi staff, in particular the Programme Manager, work with finance department for financial related aspects for project budget management; supervise project staff and collaborate with other aquaculture project staff
- Work closely with other staff working on projects in the Mekong Delta and the Mekong River Ecoregion Coordinator 
2. External:   
- Work closely with GoV counterparts and appropriate government entities, academic institutions, institutes, private sector, communities and small, medium and large scale producers
- Liaise with other NGOs/organizations for collaborations with project activities implementation;

V. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, within aquaculture/fisheries sciences;
- At least 5 years experience with project management and implementation;
- Familiar with sustainable aquaculture, BMPs, standards and certification concepts;
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work effectively with local communities and in cooperation with key stakeholders from government, civil society and the private sector;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and well developed facilitation, negotiation and liaison skills;
- Proven experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team management;
- Able to work independently and be an effective leader of a team, good interpersonal skills and ease with a participatory approach, patient and a good sense of humour;
- Committed to nature conservation;
- Fluent in English speaking, writing and listening;
- Strong ability in Microsoft word, Excel, Power point and other software.
