Country Director

WWF Thailand Programme is currently composed of 20 projects with more than 60 employees located in Bangkok including 7 other project offices in various provinces namely Nong Khai, Phuket, Konkhan, Samutprakarn, Petchburi, Phang Nga, Pathumthani.
WWF Thailand Programme Office is now seeking to recruit a well-qualified and experienced candidate, preferably a Thai citizen, for the position of Country Director, based in Bangkok. As the representative of WWF Greater Mekong Programme in Thailand, the Country Director is responsible for operationalising the WWF GMPO strategic plan for Thailand and providing strategic management support to the WWF GMPO.
The Country Director provides leadership and effective high-level national representation to key audiences, for the WWF Thailand Programme, in Thailand as well as representation for WWF Greater Mekong as delegated by the Representative of WWF GMPO. The Country Director is accountable for ensuring the effective direction and management of all approved activities in Thailand and leadership for staff of WWF Thailand. The Country Director is a member of Senior Management Team of WWF GMPO.
Key requirements are:
- Master degree in conservation, environmental studies, natural resource management, or development studies; Additional degree or experience in Business Management will be an advantage;
- Thorough understanding of Thailand geography, society, culture, socio-economic, conservation and development issues, the political situation and the Country’s relationship and significance in the wider Greater Mekong Region;
- 7 years experience in similar role for international organisations, 3 years of which should be in Greater Mekong Region/Southeast Asia;
- Experience in managing multi-cultural teams;
- Proven financial and human resources management experience;
- Proven experiences in doing policy advocacy work;
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising and networking for outreach and strategic partnership engagements;
- Experience in environment, conservation and/or NGO sector in Thailand;
- Experience of working with Government officials and intergovernmental organisations, donors at all levels;
- Experience of public speaking.
- Dedicated to conservation and sustainable development;
- Fluency in written and spoken English and native language;
- Proficiency in MS Office.

Salary range: Baht 1,500,000 – 1,800,000 per year (gross)
