Overview of the Position
The USAID “Reducing Pollution” project in Vietnam will reduce environmental pollution in targeted areas through a collective impact approach. The 5-year project will provide sub-awards to local organizations to address environmental pollution challenges. Working in key urban centers, the project will provide capacity building and knowledge-sharing among local organizations, and foster a systematic strategy to ensure Collaboration, Learning and Adapting (CLA). Through the provision of technical/advisory services, small grants, and local capacity development, this activity will promote collaboration at a variety of societal levels, including local communities, social organizations, private sector enterprises, policy makers, and government authorities.
This position is contingent upon award.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership, technical direction and oversight of day-to-day activity management;
- Actively liaise with country and development partners and effectively communicate with USAID and key stakeholders;
- Be responsible for efficient and effective performance (financial, operational, technical, etc.), compliant grants-management, and timely, high quality deliverables;
- Use appropriate judgment in the development and delivery of products and presentations aimed at different audiences, including decision-makers;
- Provide guidance and support to technical teams and partners;
- Monitor program indicators, evaluate program results, and make recommendations for Collaboration, Learning and Adaptation (CLA);
- Supervise national and international activity staff and consultants, maintain a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and compliance.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a field related to international development, environmental pollution, urban health, or related field;
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a proven track record of project leadership, programmatic accomplishment, management competence, and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated experience implementing a multi-million-dollar development project in a developing country, preferably Vietnam;
- Demonstrated experience managing subgrant that build the capacity of social organizations or civil society organizations;
- Demonstrated experience in effective grant-making and grant management (managing grants for results);
- Extensive experience working on USAID-funded activities;
- Excellent interpersonal/diplomatic skills and cultural/political sensitivity;
- Experience working in Vietnam or Southeast Asia;
- Strong English writing and communication skills;
- Vietnamese language skills preferred.
