SNV Vietnam is looking for a Short Term Consultant - Aquaculture Value Chain, based in HCMC
SNV is a not-for-profit international development organization working in Vietnam since 1995. Through the market-based approach, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+(Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation).
SNV is engaged in the agriculture sector implementing Sustainable Markets, Inclusive Business (IB) and Climate Smart Agriculture programmes and projects. Under the Sustainable Markets Programme, SNV is working from a market-based approach including certification mechanisms for a variety of commodities including sustainable aquaculture. As a part of these mechanisms SNV creates and support market linkages among small farmers and private sector companies, including commodity traders, food processors and/or agribusiness. Lastly, an important component of this approach is to scale-up and leverage social impact through national, provincial and local partnerships in the public sector.
Candidate profile:
- Master degree in rural development, agriculture, aquaculture sciences, economics, other related to the aquaculture sector
- At least 5-7 years of experience in the agriculture, aquaculture sector, seafood value chains and market-based methodologies, working with private sector companies, traders, food processors, fisheries and agribusiness.
- Extensive network in the aquaculture sector in Vietnam, especially in areas like market-based value chains, sustainable aquaculture, certification and standards, public private partnerships (PPP), private sector development, and business development services
- Experience in crafting corporate ideas into coherent and compelling multi-stakeholder project proposals and business plans
- Experience in financial reporting and establishing good working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including private sector, public sector, donors, farmer associations and others
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills (English and Vietnamese)
- Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Power Point
