Position Purpose (Mission):

  • Ensure the quality of child safeguarding implementation at all programmes, and projects in  SOS Children’s Villages in Vietnam locations, comply with Vietnam’s relevant laws and regulations and meet the SOS Children’s Villages International quality standards.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Based on the situational analysis on UN Convention on the Ríghts of the Child and Vietnamese relevant laws and regulation in SOS Children's Villages in Vietnam locations, and the mid-term strategic plans, annual plan of the organization, and in consultaion with the programmes/projects of SOS Children's Villages Vietnam (including children, care-givers and child safeguarding focal person), and the functional departments of SOS Chldren’s Villages Vietnam’s National Office to formulate and implement the mid-term and the annual plans for child safeguarding at the national level to ensure the implementation of child’s rights and child safeguarding at programs and projects; comply with the local regulations and standards of SOS Children's Villages International on child protection;
  • Guide, coordinate, internal control, supervise and report on the implementation of the annual and medium-term plans on ensuring child safeguarding at the programs and projects of SOS Children's Villages in Vietnam.
  • Conduct annual internal audit, monitor, evaluate and report on the implementation of child's rights and child safeguarding at the programs and projects of SOS Children's Villages in Vietnam;
  • Supports field operations including the programs and projects of SOS Children's Villages in Vietnam to provide technical assistance and guidance on child protection for ensure compliance with the process of reporting and responding, and verification of child protection incidents/violations are undertaken in accordance with the local law and the standards and guidelines of SOS Children's Villages International;
  • Identifies and screens children with specific needs and makes sure that relevant child safeguarding  programmes are in place.
  • Make a plan and participate in an incident verification; be the focal person to synthesize and report to the local authorities, SOS Children's Village International – Asia Regional Office, and other relevant parties on the child protection violations under the National Safeguarding Committee competence or as assigned by the National Director or designee by National Director;
  • Collect, synthesize, and report to share the lessons learned to prevent and enhance awareness about child safeguarding in the system of SOS Children's Village Vietnam and at the regional level;
  • Identify needs, plan and collaborate to offer capacity building, deliver the facilitation/training on child protection and child safeguarding for the child protection-safeguarding team members, and the co-wokers/caregivers at all levels of SOS Children’s Village  Vietnam;
  • Participate in  the child protection network at all levels in Vietnam;
  • Contributing to reports on the implementation of child's rights at the programs and projects of SOS Children's Villages in Vietnam;
  • Act as the focal person to exchange work, and report to the SOS Children's Village International – Regional Office in Asia on the child protection and child safeguarding;
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to advocate for children; disseminate and propagate the implementation of child's rights and ensure child safeguarding at the programs and projects of SOS Children's Villages Vietnam;
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Social Work or Social Sciences
  • Should have minimum 3 years of experience in child protection/child care projects or have 05 years experience in supporting/developing community.
  • Preferred persons with good knowledge and experience in monitoring the implementation of Viet Nam Child Law and UNCRC
  • Having experience in writing Concept note/project proposal.
