Recruitment: English center provide service to improve English capacity of WCS's participants

A. Background information:

Wildlife Conservation Society, Viet Nam Program (WCS) is supporting 35 participants to improve their English comprehension, tentatively during February to June 2022.

Detailed information is as follow:

  • Number of participants/learners: 35 participants (adults) from 12 provinces, in which, 10 from Ha Noi and the others from Quang Ninh (4), Hai Phong (2), Lang Son (1), Nghe An (4), Ha Tinh (3), Da Nang (3), Ho Chi Minh city (4), Dak Nong (1), Dong Nai (1), Tay Ninh (1), Kien Giang (1).
  • Expected time of learning: around 46 - 58 hours of learning, which can be translated to 1.5 hours per session, 1-2 sessions per weeks depending on schedule of WCS's event and WCS's participants. Total course duration can be from 4 - 6 months, tentatively during February to June 2022 onwards.

Participants are expected to learn about business communication or daily communication to improve four skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking) in at least 46 hours.

Additional 10 hours of contents that may include topics of: environment, animals/wildlife, ecology, conservation, police, crimes and law violations, law and policy, security can be provided.

WCS can open another course/phase depending on improvement and needs of the participants.

B. Requirements/expectations towards English centers:

  • Teachers & Teaching assistants:
    • Main teachers are native speaking accent. Having TESOL certificate is a must for teachers. Main teachers should teach WCS’s participants for at least 50% of total learning time.
    • Teaching assistants are Vietnamese with good at English and Vietnamese with at least 2 years of working teaching experience. English center should clearly defined methods of supports from the Vietnamese teaching assistants with WCS’s participants in the curriculum/technical proposal. The support can be organized as additional sessions or integrated directly into learning sessions with main teachers or other convincing suggestions.
  • Method of teaching: combining both offline and online.
    In the first 46 hours of learning, English center can arrange WCS’s participants into different, suitable classes based on their entrance/enrollment tests:
    • If WCS's participants live in locations which have branch/office of the English center, the English center will arrange offline learning for the participants, if possible and in accordance with local government’s regulations on COVID-19 control. If not, WCS's participants will join online sessions and will learn at the English center when appropriate.
    • WCS's participants in locations without branch/office of the English center will join online sessions.

    In the additional 10 hours, English center will arrange online classes for WCS’s participants only. The English center will organize an entrance exam/test to group WCS’s participants into class(es) with suitable level. Each class is expected to be organized for a small number of learners, less than 15 people for offline class(es) and more than 10 people for online class(es). After completing the course, participants’ English comprehension will be examined again.
    Interactive, participatory teaching methods are encouraged to use throughout the course. English center should be able to arrange session(s) flexibly. For example, if WCS is going to have an event with the 35 participants in a particular week, the English center can re-arrange English session(s) of that week to another suitable time or suggest other solution(s) in the curriculum to ensure learning time of participants.

  • Ability and credibility:
    • The English center should have more than 5-years-of-experience.
    • The English center should have certification of partnership or recognition from British Council, Cambridge, or equivalent educational organizations.  
    • Having high number of active branches/offices in provinces where WCS's participants are (see part A) is an asset.
    • History or previous works with governmental agencies is an asset.

C. Application should include:

  • Center’s profile and relevant documents and list of branches/offices in Viet Nam.
  • CV of relevant main teachers, teaching assistants
  • Video recordings of previous English class(es).
  • Portfolio of outstanding or similar works.
  • References with contact information.
  • Financial proposal with detailed curriculum for 2 options:
    • (1) Curriculum for at least 46 hours of learning with contents of business communication or daily communication to improve four skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking).
    • (2) Curriculum for at least 46 hours of learning with contents of business communication or daily communication to improve four skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking). And, curriculum for 10 hours specially designed for WCS with contents of environment, animals/wildlife, ecology, conservation, police, crimes and law violations, law and policy, security
