BATIK International was founded in 1998 and designs and runs international employment, vocational training and business start-up projects.

The organisation endeavours to forge strong links between Europe, South East Asia and the Mediterranean region, improve the social and professional inclusion of vulnerable people in the north and south and help fight inequality and poverty via the initiatives that it develops in partnership with local stakeholders.

Batik International develops several projects in Vietnam, including an AFD-funded project on migrant women in industrial zones presented below.

Project Presentation:

The successful candidate will be working as a project accountant BATIK and the PhuNu project:

This project aims at improving the living conditions and social inclusion of women in the formal and informal sector working in two industrial zones of Hai Duong and Vinh Phuc.
BATIK international is the leader organisation on this project and need an accountant as a key collaborator for the project monitoring, daily accounting and reporting to the project team, partners and to the major funder of this project (AFD).

This project will be 3 years long and will be conducted with 2 partner organisations.

Job Purpose:

  • The project accountant will support the project team in managing and accounting for day to day cash inflows and outflows ensuring proper systems and procedures are being followed and smooth operating and achievement of accounting tasks in an efficient, effective, and accountable manner.
  • He/she will have to ensure the compliance with all donors’ requirements regarding financial and accounting statement as well as the reliability of those statements.
  • He/she will be as well in charge of BATIK accounting, cash management and other financial issues.

Main Duties:
Financial management of the project

  • Quarterly report on partners expenses and follow-up on BATIK expenses within the project,
  • Production of the annual financial reports for the different donors of the project,
  • Communication with the financial department of BATIK International and partner organizations on the project,
  • Assist partner organizations on all accounting related issues,
  • Attend financial audits and annual project,

Project Accounting Management

  • Preparation of a guide of procedures for project expenditures in accordance with the legal requirements / specific regulations of each donor,
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations and tax rules,
  • Collect bills and enter the monthly expenses of the project in the follow up tool,
  • Integrate the accounting of the project in BATIK`s accounting,

Cash Management

  • Creation of tools for monitoring project cash,
  • Management and coordination of the cash requirements of each partner and of the whole project,

Other responsibilities

  • Realize BATIK Accounting, cash management, follow up of expenses, annual forecast and balances,
  • Conduct an audit of BATIK`s accounting practices and suggest improvements (systems, procedures, etc.),
  • Be an active team member, share your experience with other team member and insure a good working spirit.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Finance and accounting or in relevant field,
  • Minimum of 3 years working experienced as a finance officer, accountant with strong accounting skills and administration management. At least 1 year of experience working with an International NGO, a previous experience in an AFD (French Development Agency) financed project would be a major asset,
  • Experience of working in multi-cultural environment is an advantage,
  • Good knowledge of financial and accounting reporting systems, standards and practices,
  • Good understanding of practices of finance and accounting in non-profit organisations in Vietnam,
  • Able to pre-empt and organise the work proactively,
  • Computer skills (excel, outlook, accounting software),
  • Good interpersonal, planning, time management and coordination skills,
  • Good verbal and written communication skills,
  • Excellent English skills, French is a plus,
  • Willingness and enthusiasm in working for BATIK International and be part of the adventure!
