The conference’s aim is to initiate and stimulate international discussion on the various sustainable issues in the GMS, specifically in the areas of energy, environment, natural resource management, and development planning.
The Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network (GMSARN) will hold
the Third GMSARN International Conference 2008 on "Sustainable Development:
Issues and Prospects for the Greater Mekong Subregion", 12-14 November 2008 at
Kunming, China.
After the success of the two previous GMSARN International Conferences in 2006 and 2007, the Third International Conference of 2008 helps to unite the member countries together in solving crucial trans-boundary problems.

Oct. 27-30, 2008: Global meeting of National NGO
Platforms; France

Coordination SUD and CONCORD are inviting to the first global meeting of
National NGO Platforms (27/28 Oct. 08), which will be hosted by Coordination SUD
during the French Presidency of the EU. This first global meeting is followed by the
French platform's presidency event which is co-organised by CONCORD (29/30 Oct
08: "Europe as perceived by the other regions of the world").

For CONCORD and its national platforms, this will be a next step in developing
alliances with the colleagues from platforms in the Global South. It is linked to the
