Overview
The Eye Care Group was established in line with the Vision 2020 to support national efforts to achieve the goal of eliminating avoidable blindness in Vietnam. After several informal meetings among some eye care-related NGOs, the idea of having af working group was raised.
Many eye care-related NGOs have already played a significant role in developing eye care services in Vietnam, and some of them have established permanent offices in Vietnam.

In member news this week, we would like to inform you that the Global Call for Action Against Poverty (GCAP) team in Vietnam will hold a meeting on April 4 between 15.30 and 17.30. The Fatherland Front will host the meeting at 46 Trang Thi, Building B, Venue: Meeting room no 1. The meeting will discuss and plan GCAP activities in 2007 and how GCAP Vietnam will link up to regional and global activities. At the end of March, we bid farewell to Ms. Carol Jane Sherman, Country Director of Care International in Viet Nam, where she has worked for the past four years. She will be replaced by Ms. Geraldine Zwack, Interim Country Director. The NGO Resource Centre team would like to thank Carol for the two-and-a-half years she has actively contributed as a member of the NGO RC Steering Committee.
At the end of March, we also said farewell to Mr. Graham Adutt, Representative of Caritas Switzerland. From April, he will be replaced by Mr. Marco van Grinsve, who is joining Caritas from VECO Vietnam, where he has worked for the past five-and-a-half years.
