New Grant Program to Provide Funding for Asia Pacific ICT Community

Recognizing the importance of technological innovation, key players in the ICT world are coming together to launch a new grants program for the Asia Pacific information and communication technology (ICT) community.
The Information Society Innovation Fund (ISIF) is a joint initiative between Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Internet Society (ISOC), and the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC), aimed at stimulating creative solutions to ICT development needs in the Asia Pacific region.
Deadline for applications is September 1, 2008.

Carnegie Mellon University-AusAID Scholarship
Carnegie Mellon University-AusAID (CMU-AusAID) Scholarships are funded by the Australian Government to support a limited number of students from countries where Australia has a bilateral aid program, to undertake a Masters degree at the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University's campus in Adelaide, Australia.
CMU-AusAID Scholarships are only available to students who have already been offered a place at Carnegie-Mellon University in either of the two courses available under this program.

Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program
The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides support to young researchers working in academic and research institutions from eligible countries preparing a doctoral thesis. Research grants cover residence costs for a 5 to 10 month period in a renowned university or research center. Fellows are expected to advance their research work mainly by using the facilities and resources provided by the host institution and by interacting with peers.
Who Can Apply?
Only lecturers and researchers from eligible countries working on their doctoral thesis can apply for the fellowship. Candidates should be under 45 years, and have completed any course work or exams required for their doctoral program.

Australian Development Research Awards - 2008 Funding Round

This research will support efforts in the Asia Pacific region to achieve the Millennium Development Goal (MDG 6) of halting and reversing the spread of HIV by 2015. AusAID has identified three priority foci in relation to HIV:
i) Community based prevention: New challenges arising for HIV prevention, and lessons learned from prevention among populations at greatest risk in Asia Pacific. Research should increase their understanding of innovative approaches to prevention (e.g. by considering factors relevant to risk and vulnerability) and inform the design of effective responses
ii) Gender: Improving understanding of the relevance of gender to causes and consequences of the HIV epidemic in Asia Pacific; and
Oslo Peace Scholarship
The Graduate Studies in International Affairs (GSIA) program in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, in partnership with the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) and Bjørknes College, offers one scholarship each year for full-time study in the Master of International Affairs specialising in Peace and Conflict Studies degree program.
Tuition fees will be covered by The Australian National University and Bjørknes College; and students will receive some funding towards living costs as a stipend.
