The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) vows to support Vietnam in improving the efficiency of civil judgment enforcement, Program Director at USAID/Vietnam David Anderson said at a workshop in Hanoi on June 4. The U.S. agency has cooperated with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), relevant agencies, and firms of Vietnam to complete a legal framework for business activities, especially those related to settle contract disputes, he added. Some experts at the event proposed issuing more legal documents to enable executors and judgment enforcement agencies to participate in judgment processes, clarifying the responsibility of agencies and organizations in implementing the requests of civil judgment agencies, and performing administrative procedures online. According to Nguyen Van Son, deputy head of the General Department of Civil Judgment Enforcement, some 635,198 civil cases were brought to court in Vietnam from October 2017 to March 2018, an increase of 8.8% year-on-year.
