Position: Senior Program Officer – Health Campaigns and Advocacy
Duration: Full-time 2.5 years with possibility of extension
Probation: 3-month probation period
Salary: USD750 – USD 850/month (net salary) (Gross salary and benefit: USD15,500 – USD16,500/year)
Reporting to: Country Representative
Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA is the global justice organisation of the Australian trade union movement. We work globally in partnership for the achievement of dignity at work, social justice, economic equality and the realisation of human rights. APHEDA has supported programs in Vietnam since 1985 and maintained an office in Vietnam since 2004.
Union Aid Abroad APHEDA is looking for Senior Program Officer to support project implementation, communication and advocacy activities. The position will be supporting and coordinating a 3-year program amongst 1) remote ethnic minority communities 2) workers and vulnerable communities. The position will coordinate closely with a range of implementing partners and collaborating organisations in Vietnam and also participate in relevant regional networks. The position will also support partners in their advocacy on the issue. This senior
position will work closely with the APHEDA Vietnam Country Representative and the APHEDA Regional Campaign Coordinator.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Project Cycle Management
- Plan and manage effective project activities, events and meetings related to the project objectives and broader APHEDA program goals.
- Assist in the development of annual work plans for monitoring progress activities and achievements and regular updates.
- Prepare regular monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the APHEDA Country Rep. and Regional Asbestos Coordinator, including regular review and reflection meetings based on reports.
Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships and strategic partnerships with relevant local and international organisations.
Represent APHEDA with campaign stakeholders
- Represent APHEDA publicly in matters related to the Asbestos campaign including with APHEDA’s stakeholders, partner organisations.
Interpreting and Translation
- Assist with the provision of interpretation (Vietnamese-English) for the Regional Asbestos Coordinator, visiting advisors and trainers as required and time permits.
- Assist with written translation of project/campaign materials and documents as required.
Support Services
- Assist APHEDA and project partners in organizing relevant internal meetings, capacity strengthening trainings, project planning workshops as required.
- Any other duties as reasonable requested by Country Rep., Regional Campaign Coordinator and in line with organizational priorities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor/University degree in law, health, development or related field
- Demonstrated high level project management experience and skills in Vietnam, in particular project planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation. Minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills, to build and maintain relationships and networks effectively in support of project objectives.
- Capable of working effectively in small team with demonstrated ability to work independently, within the context of a project plan, and having a track record of achieving targets.
- High level of communication skills
- Fluency in written and spoken Vietnamese and English.
- Computer literate, including good knowledge of office information technology applications, including spreadsheets, and presentation software.
- Able and willing to undertake periodic field travel.
- Creativity and enthusiasm to tackle new challenges.
