Request for Proposals: National Antimalarial Outlet Survey 2015 – Vietnam
ACTwatch is a multi-country research project implemented by PSI (www.psi.org [1]). ACTwatch outlet surveys are conducted in 14 countries (Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Benin, the DRC, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia). More than 30 outlet surveys have been conducted since the project was launched in 2008. See www.actwatch.info [2] for more information. From October-December, 2015, PSI plans to conduct the ACTwatch outlet survey in Vietnam. The ACTwatch set of research tools are designed to:
1. Provide a picture of the total market for malaria case management including: all providers carrying antimalarials and RDTs and providing case management services; the relative antimalarial market share for each provider type; the antimalarial supply chain; and price markups within the supply chain for antimalarials and RDTs.
2. Monitor the readiness of market components for appropriate malaria case management, including: availability of antimalarials and malaria blood testing; consumer price of antimalarial treatment and malaria blood testing; and provider qualifications, training and knowledge.
3. Monitor the performance of market components for appropriate malaria case management, including: the relative market share for quality-assured ACT relative to other antimalarial medicines.
The survey will be conducted among a representative sample of outlets with the potential to provide antimalarial medicines and/or malaria blood testing, in 6 high malaria burden provinces including Quang Nam, Kon-Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc.
