Position: Intern Communications & Capacity Building

General Context
ActionAid is a global movement of people working together to further human rights for all and defeat poverty. We have a ‘bottom up’ approach to decision-making, and uniquely, our head office is located in Africa.
ActionAid started working in Vietnam since 1989, established its Representative Office in Hanoi in 1992. Since then, it has been focusing the work to end poverty and promote sustainable development in mountainous, remote and difficult regions as well as poor urban areas across Vietnam. ActionAid Vietnam (AAV) works in partnership with local partners in different provinces and applies Human Rights Based Approach to its entire works.
This paper aims at providing Terms of Reference to recruit an Intern to support the two functions Communications & Campaigns and Capacity Building at AAV.
Key working relationship

Key tasks
Provide support to Communications and Campaigns function (70% of time):
- Website & HIVE updates
- Daily support in writing, editing, and translating news in Vietnam and English to upload onto AAV website and HIVE page
- Daily support in uploading information onto AAV website and HIVE page
- Monthly support in writing monthly management report for AAV website and HIVE page
- Social media
- Support in uploading information to Facebook account and blog
- Support in uploading videos onto AAV Youtube
- Support for communication work:
- Support in organizing media field trips, media briefing/conference
- Support in printing and producing communication publications and products
- Support in media clipping and documentation when required
- Support in campaigning:
- Administrative support: budget preparation, agenda preparation
- Support in organizing campaign events
- Collect campaign outcomes
- Other tasks:
- Translate and interpret from English into Vietnamese and vice versa if and when required
- Undertake document filing, documentation, minutes taking etc
- Other tasks as assigned by Line Manager
Provide support to Capacity Building function (30% of time):
- Support for training:
- Support organizing the training on Coaching and Mentoring skills in June 2014
- Support organizing the training of DLA Piper Capacity in September 2014
- Support organizing 3 training courses with partner in 2014
- Support in data input for training records in the database
- Support in data input for training evaluation for 5 above mentioned trainings
- Support for establishing e-learning portal of SEAComHub:
- Support input user accounts data and tracking the usage by direction of CBC
- Support in uploading materials
- Support for maintaining knowledge portal
- Support in uploading materials
- Translate and interpret English into Vietnamese and vice versa if and when required
- Undertake tasks such as document filing, documentation, minutes taking, logistics arrangement
- Other tasks as assigned by Line Manager
The detail tasks and time allocation in both departments will be reviewed after 3 months (from the date the Intern starts working)
Qualification/Capacity of the Intern
- Highly motivated, undergraduate or recent graduate in good academic standing and with a strong interest or background in social media
- Preferably a marketing, communications, journalism or PR major
- Good command of English, including interpretation and translation from Vietnamese to English and vice-versa

Supervisor
- Reporting directly to Communications & Campaigns Coordinator and Capacity Building Coordinator
Working setting
- Full time (7.5 hours per working day, from Monday to Friday), and be based in Hanoi office of AAV
Allowance
- Following the AAV’s cost norm
- Budget source: from Communications function, AAV
Duration of the contract
- One year (October 2014 – October 2015) – fixed term with possibility of extension
Other benefits
- ActionAid Vietnam will write reviews and acknowledge after the collaboration period of the Intern with AAV if s/he meets AAV’s requirements.
