We are looking for a Vietnamese national for:
- Vacancy: Consultant to provide clinical training and supportive supervision consultancy on newborn care for the “Saving children’s lives in vulnerable communities” project [1]
- Location: Yen Bai
Consultant’s responsibilities:
The consultant will:
- Provide adequate clinical training environment (training aids, patients, training place…) for selected trainees in both theoretical training (5 days) and clinical practicum (20 days). The training curriculum and materials will be discussed and agreed with SCI.
- Assign relevant specialists who work under direct supervision of SCI’s Project Manager depending on the activities. The designated experts are expected to accomplish the following tasks:
- Provide technical and methodological guidance and/or trainings for pediatricians and nurses and related health workers, as requested.
- Provide regular supportive supervision to the project locations in accordance with the schedule and guidelines of SCI. Detail tasks are as follows:
- Coach and transfer professional knowledge and skills for pediatricians, nurses and midwives at visiting health facilities during each supportive supervision trip;
- Give feedback to individuals, group of health professionals, and health leaders at visiting health facilities;
- Help health staff to work together to identify gaps/problems and solutions to improve quality of newborn health care services.
- Review and provide advices/suggestions on necessary newborn care equipment/infrastructure for provincial, district and commune levels at project sites.
- Attend workshops/trainings as trainers/ facilitators when invited.
Key Deliverables
- A 5-day theoretical training and a 20-day clinical practicum curriculum for pediatricians and newborn care nurses at provicial and district levels.
- Technical training reports.
- Supportive Supervision reports.
Main competencies required
- Being a National Hospital
- Have enough competent pediatricians and nurses who have strong capacity in knowledge, experience and skills to provide clinical training courses to provincial newborn care specialists/nurses.
- The experts designated by the hospital to participate in the project activities need to have the following criteria:
- Associate Professor accompanied by a PhD degree and more than 10 years working experience on clinical training on newborn care.
- 5 year working experience in newborn care is required at least for the trainers who are medical doctors or senior nurses (with bachelor’s degree).
