SNV is implementing the three year project “Innovative financing for building community resilience to climate change in coastal Viet Nam” in Nghe An province. The objective of this project is to reduce poverty and vulnerability of the coastal communities by increasing their adaptive capacity to the effects of climate change through the introduction of more resilient livelihoods against weather risks.
They are seeking a highly qualified candidate to work as a part of the SNV Climate Change Adaptation Program. The Advisor/ Project Coordinator will have the overall responsibility for coordinating the implementation of all project components as well as take an active advisory role in the financing and micro-insurance component of the project.
Advisor Micro-Insurance/Project Coordinator
Duty station: to be based in Vinh city, Nghe An province with frequent travel to the field sites
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Be the focal contact point for the project with partners in Nghe An and ensure effective communication between all parties
- Develop and maintain the working relationship and network with project stakeholders
- Prepare the project annual work plan and detailed quarterly work plans
- Prepare the projects’ progress and disbursement reports to meet the requests of SNV and of the donors
- Monitor the overall implementation of project activities to ensure timeliness and quality of activities
- Contribute to and support the field level activities for the project monitoring and evaluation
- Ensure knowledge development and dissemination of lessons learned and best practices of the project as well as the awareness raising and information and knowledge exchange network
- Support and assist in implementation of the financing mechanism and weather insurance model component
- Make a plan for the finance and micro-insurance project component
- Prepare quarterly and annual progress reports
Requirements:
- University degree in development, agriculture, agribusiness or finance
- Minimum of six years of experience working on agriculture and rural development, value chain, climate change, finance, micro-insurance development and rural/coastal livelihoods
- Experience in smallholder agriculture development as well as working with the private sector would be an advantage
- Relevant experience in the central region of Vietnam, particularly in Nghe An province is strongly preferred.
- Reliable and dynamic personality with high social competence and good team spirit.
- Field experience as project coordinator would be an asset.
- Good organisational skills, interpersonal skills, result orientated and team worker
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Vietnamese)
- Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Power Points)
Duration of assignment
SNV offers one-year contract with the possibility of extension and a competitive salary package.
