[Watsan-wg] PATH: Partner Engagement Forum on Household Water Treatment and Storage (HWTS), June 11

Dear colleagues,
PATH will organize a Partner Engagement Forum on Household Water Treatment and Storage (HWTS) in Vietnam, tentatively set for June 11, 2010 in Hanoi. The forum is not only for PATH Safe Water Project to share key findings from its previous studies and pilots, but also for strengthening connections between multiple stakeholders-with an emphasis on public-private sector collaboration and commercial approach-for improving HWTS and hygiene for low income populations in Vietnam. Five topics related to HWTS have been chosen to be discussed during the forum including:

What is the existing situation and what interventions are currently available for HWTS in Vietnam?
*       Findings from research and pilot projects and implications for improving HWTS, sanitation, and hygiene promotion in Vietnam.
*       What is the potential role and contribution for the private sector in fulfilling safe drinking water needs of low income populations in Vietnam?
*       What are the most viable approaches for sustainability of HWTS products and long term, household use? What type of subsidy is appropriate for HWTS? What are the best solutions for improving HWTS for low income populations in Vietnam?
*       Ideas, recommendation, or plans for partnership development for improving HWTS for low income population in Vietnam?

We have identified you as an important player in the area of water, sanitation, and hygiene and we would like to gain from your experience with your participation in discussions about HWTS for this forum. Planning for this forum is still underway, but if you are interested in participating in the forum, please find the attached file for detailed information. In the meantime, I'd greatly appreciate your initial thoughts on this, and then I will send letter of invitation to registered participants.
