Forms of Engagement Between CSOs & State Agencies in Vietnam
The study combines a survey of existing literature on civil society and civil society organisations (CSOs) in Vietnam, studies of specific cases of CSO-state engagement, views and experiences of key informants, and a media review.
An Advisory Group (AG), made up of more than 10 different key stakeholders, provided overall ideas to the study by giving feedback on the study's terms of reference (TOR), research design, and draft study report. The study's detailed design was prepared in March-April 2008 by a smaller working group consisting of Oxfam-Great Britain in Vietnam, DFID, the Embassy of Finland, the VUFO-NGO Resource Centre (NGO RC), and the research team.
The NGO RC organised, coordinated and produced the study in close collaboration with the working group. The research team had three academics, two Vietnamese and one foreigner. The two Vietnamese researchers, together with resource staff from the NGO RC and elsewhere, interviewed key informants and conducted the case studies from late May to mid July 2008.
