Socioeconomic Researchers

BACKGROUND:
The Development and Policies Research Center (DEPOCEN) is an independent research center established since 2005. Since the establishment we have engaged in many social and economic research activities for both governmental and international organizations.

They are looking to recruit 2 qualified full – time Vietnamese socioeconomic researchers.

I. Key responsibilities:
The socioeconomic researcher will be responsibilities for delivering activities under the leadership of the Chief Economist. Specific responsibilities of the position will include:
- Contribute to the planning and design of projects and researches
- Developing of survey instruments, sampling schemes and protocols for projects.
- Leading the implementation of field survey and being responsible for the effective completion of surveys, and the data management
- Accessing to secondary data resources as needed
- Undertake analysis and synthesis of data under the supervision of the Chief Economist
- Participate in writing reports
- Comply with all relevant DEPOCEN policies and procedures.
- Working under pressure
- The balance of these tasks will be determined by The Chief Economist.

II. Selection Criteria:
- Masters (or doctoral) qualification in a relevant field, preferably socioeconomic science, development sociology and statistics. 
- At least 2 years’ graduate experience in research role
- Publication record is desirable
- Strong research skills include
- Experience in designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative surveys
- Proficiency in the use of one or more major statistical packages such as SPSS, STATA.
- Database development experience using CSPro or other database software tools
- Ability to work independently and to proactively contribute to the progress of the team
- Ability to deliver to deadlines
- Ability to work in international network
- Ability to write reports with minimal supervision
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Excellent English and Vietnamese written and oral communication skills. 
- Ability to travel as needed

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This appointment is 1 year contract with possible extension.
Salary: depends on skills and experience
