Project Officer

Challenge to Change is a British NGO based in Hue City, supporting poor communities in Vietnam, especially in vulnerable coastal regions, to adapt to the impact of climate change. 

They are now looking for a Project Officer (Vietnamese) to lead our new work on the project “Local Communities improve their adaptive capacity and resilience to Climate Change” in Quang Tri Province.  The project involves community-based disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in two communes; support for endangered households to re-settle; development of early warning systems; research on agricultural livelihood options; and support to local authorities in planning their responses to climate change.  The Project Officer will work closely with our partner organisation, the Centre for Rural  Development (CRD) under the Thua Tien Hue Agricultural University.  The Project Officer will spend at least 50% of his/her time at the project sites in Quang Tri, and the remaining time in Hue City. 

The requirements for the position are as follows: e
- experience of participatory community development and community-based disaster risk management;
- good training skills;
- experience in a similar NGO/development organisation;
- understanding of a range of development issues and sectors including gender;
- good English language skills (spoken and written) and interpersonal skills, and ability to produce outputs of high quality;
- flexibility to travel to project sites, and a commitment to rural development especially the needs of the poor.
