WB to Provide Additional $79M for Vietnam to Expand Food Safety Project

The World Bank (WB) will provide an additional $78.03 million for expanding the project titled Livestock Competitiveness and Food Safety Project (LIFSAP) in Vietnam, said Victoria Kwakwa, vice president of WB in Asia-Pacific. The expanded project will be carried out in 12 provinces and cities in the second half of this year, said Ms. Kwakwa. LIFSAP is the project funded by WB aiming to raise economic effectiveness of livestock households while reduce negative impacts on environment. In the first phase, the project has been implemented in Cao Bang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It has been expanded to Hung Yen, Hai Huong, Haiphong, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Lam Dong, Dong Nai and Long An in the second phase. (Thoi Bao Ngan Hang – Banking Times May 18)
