Vietnam PM Oks $21M Health Cooperation Program with WHO in 2018-2019

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just approved a $21-million health cooperation program with the World Health Organization (WHO) in the 2018-2019 period, which will be funded by the WHO. The program aims to support the Vietnamese government in solving priority issues of the healthcare system as well as adopting strategies of health protection and healthcare in 2016-2020, with a vision for 2030, and a project on building and developing healthcare network in 2016-2025. The cooperation program will also contribute to improving the capability to carry out the International Health Regulations (IHR), dealing with urgent health issues, using efficiently the WHO’s financial support for Vietnam in improving citizens’ health. The program will reduce the risk of communicable and non-communicable diseases in the community such as HIV/AIDS, virus hepatitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, malaria, and others.
