PM Pledges to Join Global Effort for World without War, Poverty

Vietnam is always a friend and trustworthy partner of countries around the world and always works hard to join the international community’s efforts for a world without war and poverty, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a reception for foreign diplomats in Hanoi last night to mark Vietnam's 72nd National Day on September 2. Mr. Phuc said that Vietnam is attempting to build a transparent and constructive government in service of the people. Over the past few years, Vietnam has seen considerable achievements thanks to support from international organizations and friends: “Vietnam is focusing on breakthrough measures and drastic moves to improve productivity and competitiveness, speed up administrative reforms, and support businesses. It is striving to achieve its growth target, sustain effective development, promote democracy, and fight corruption”. Prime Minister Phuc noted that Vietnam has strengthened international cooperation and stepped up efforts to build the ASEAN Community. On behalf of the guests, Venezuelan Ambassador Jorge Rodon Uzcategui, who is also head of the diplomatic corps in Hanoi, said that Vietnam is a responsible country in external relations activities. He praised Vietnam’s efforts in hosting APEC Year 2017, expressing his belief that the event will be a great success. ( Sept 1)
