Hanoi Mobilizes Private Investment Worth VND5.6T to Build 78 Schools

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi has 78 education socialization projects with total investment over VND5.6 trillion ($256 million) using combined areas of 1 million square meters to date, the Ha Noi Moi newspaper reported on August 5. Of the figure, 17 projects have been completed and put into operation while 58 projects are currently under construction. According to the plan, there will be 35 projects put into operation by the end of this year. Several domestic and international investors have shown interest in investing in the sector. There are 121 education centers have foreign teachers in Hanoi, among which, 24 have foreign invested capital and 97 centers provide extra foreign language programs. Hanoi currently has 2,434 schools with 371 private schools having 159,100 students, accounting for 10.1% total students in the city. The number represents addition 81 private schools since 2009.
