GPE, Nippon Foundation, Save Children Support Vietnam in $5M Education Proj

Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has collaborated with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the Nippon Foundation, and Save the Children to initiate a VND121 billion ($5.15 million) project aimed at enhancing the quality of education for ethnic minority and disabled children in Vietnam, local media reported.

The project will be funded 100% by the GPE and Nippon Foundation.

It comprises three components, namely (i) ensuring ethnic minority children in preschool have access to enhanced Vietnamese language based on their mother tongue; (ii) strengthening the use of mother tongue and preserving the culture of ethnic minorities in primary schools; and (iii) enhancing inclusive education for disabled children and ethnic minority children.

Launched in March 2024, the project is scheduled to be completed by December 2026. The direct beneficiaries of the project are preschool children from six ethnic groups, including Mong, Ede, Khmer, J'rai, Bahnar, and Thai.
