French NGOs Discuss Healthcare Support

Representatives from more than 20 French non-governmental health care organisations attended a conference on France-Vietnam health-care co-operation held in the city on Saturday. More than 100 Vietnamese and French doctors and health experts discussed collaboration in improving maternal and infant health, preventive medicine, training and research, and forensic medicine. They will also continue humanitarian activities targeting vulnerable group, with special strategies on preventing and screening for malformations, as well as improved access to healthcare services for poor households. Following a health co-operation deal signed in 1993, more than 2,000 Vietnamese doctors have been trained in French hospitals. (Vietnam News Mar 23 p3)
