Ethnic Village Promotes Cultural Conservation

The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism has been praised for playing a key role in the conservation and promotion of ethnic culture in recent five years.

Ethnic cultural values highlighted

The National Ethnic Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism was constructed across various landscapes as an attempt to replicate the different styles of geography found throughout Vietnam. Visiting the site, tourists may be interested in participating in a series of original festivals with games, dances and songs, and ordinary activities like brocade weaving. Tourists will have opportunities to experience Lunar New Year festivals of the Cham, Mong and Muong ethnic peoples, Independence Day festival, Ok Om Bok festival of the Khmer people, the Harvest Praying ceremony, Long Tong festival of the Tay people, New Home and Arieuping festivals of the Ta Oi people, and wedding ceremonies of the E De, Mong and Giay peoples. In addition, tourists may also visit the Tay Nguyen sculpture camp where Xo Dang, Ba Na, Jrai, Gie Trieng, Brau and Ro Man sculptors are busy working with statues familiar with ethnic culture, lives and religions, or go shopping at a floating market like what they may find in the Mekong Delta while listening to southern amateur singing resound from afar, or else wander about mountainous fairs to taste some local specialties, buy several local souvenirs like brocade scarves and watch bull, horse and goat races.

Every event that takes place at the village always attracts great participation of ethnic peoples, offering visitors a broad view of ethnic cultural identities and an easy access to ethnic artisans and traditional crafts. The village is regarded as a common home for ethnic peoples and tourists to gather to exchange conversations, sing songs, dance and throw themselves in a joyous atmosphere where language barriers fail to prevent them from understand each other and friendly gestures bring them closer together.
