ADB Pledges to Help Vietnam Develop PPP Model to Attract Private Investment

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has pledged to help Vietnam develop the public- private partnership (PPP) model to attract private investment for the country’s infrastructure projects, said Executive Director Maliami Bin Hamad. Leaders of the ADB worked with the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) to discuss measures and policies to encourage private companies to invest in transport infrastructure projects under the PPP model. The bank will support the government in completing the legal framework on PPP, Mr. Hamad noted. The ADB, one of Vietnam’s biggest donors, had provided the country with $13 billion by the end of September. The amount includes $12.7 billion in loans, $253.5 million in technical support and $170 million in grants. The MPI has submitted a draft decree on PPP model to the government for consideration in its efforts to attract more private investors to infrastructure development projects.
