ChildFund Vietnam is the representative office of ChildFund Australia – an independent and non-religious international development organisation that works to reduce poverty for children in the developing world.

ChildFund Australia is a member of the ChildFund Alliance – a global network of 12 organisations which assists more than 15 million children and families in 58 countries. ChildFund Australia is a registered charity and is fully accredited by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade which manages the Australian Government’s overseas aid program.

ChildFund began working in Vietnam in 1995 and operates child focused Integrated Community Development programs which are Child Rights and Child Protection, Access to Basic Quality Education and Building Strong and Resilient Communities, including but not limited to the areas of education, water and sanitation, sustainable livelihoods, food security, child rights and child protection, and maternal and child health and HIV prevention.

ChildFund’s programs are being implemented across the northern provinces of Bac Kan, Cao Bang and Hoa Binh, where the majority of people are from ethnic minority groups, often the most vulnerable or marginalised sections of the population.

Position Description

The Youth Participation and Civil Society Specialist (YPCSS) is the youth leadership and resilience and civil society technical lead in strengthening and expanding ChildFund Vietnam’s existing youth leadership and resilience and civil society projects, in coordination with colleagues in the Hanoi and ADOs, as well as with the International Program Coordinator in Sydney.

The YPCSS provides technical input into youth leadership and resilience and civil society grants submissions, advice and support on youth leadership and resilience and civil society components of other programs and projects; provides capacity building (technical assistance and training) at the country level for the youth leadership and resilience and civil society areas. The position will also ensure the quality and accuracy of youth leadership and resilience and civil society programs and project messages, materials, tools, and indicators being developed and utilized in youth leadership and resilience and civil society program as well as with other ChildFund programs. The YPCSS provides highest level of technical leadership and quality assurance in Vietnam for the youth leadership and resilience and civil society.

The YPCSS contributes to, and represents ChildFund Vietnam in NGO networking and entities concerned with youth leadership and resilience and civil society through research and advocacy initiatives. The YPCSS is responsible for developing ChildFund Vietnam’s position and approach on key issues related to youth leadership and resilience and civil society. This includes identifying issues to advocate on and developing and promoting organisational positions on such issues.
