Vacancy: Water & Sanitation Project Officer

Based in Ho Chi Minh City

We are looking for a Vietnamese national for the position of Water and Sanitation Project Officer to work in our Emergency Team. The successful candidate can be based in Ho Chi Minh City with travel to project sites.

Main Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the water and sanitation engineering project activities under the Mekong Safe Water project, and includes: i) construction of school water supply systems and school latrines; and ii) promotion and construction support for household rainwater harvesting systems. Extensive community-based work including site assessments, monitoring and collaboration with partners will be required.

Key Competencies:
• University degree in a related subject (water supply engineering, civil engineering, development etc)
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in construction engineering, or water and sanitation engineering, preferably in small scale rural school environments with an NGO
• Experience of; water quality, water treatment (including arsenic), solar distillation systems, sanitation structure design (schools), contract management and supervision
• Experience of public works construction contract preparation/management/supervision
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude to team work
• Working level of spoken and written English
• Commitment to Save the Children’s values
