Technical Expert/Consultant to Train Regular Education Staff on Inclusive Education

We are looking for a Vietnamese national for Consultancy service, with following information:

I.    Objectives of the Consultancy:

To train master trainers/teachers, SCI staff, school principals and local government education staff on inclusive education, using existing training manuals (to be checked with Save the Children Hanoi CO and with CRS and/or other IKEA Foundation inclusive education projects such as the Philippines and Cambodia) – possibly after some adaptations.

Master trainers/teachers will follow up with IE teacher training in selected schools with high enrolment of students with mild/moderate disabilities or learning difficulties, migrant students and other disadvantaged or vulnerable children.

Master trainers/teachers will monitor classrooms with teachers trained on inclusive education (regular interviews and classroom observation, collecting feedback from students, etc.)

II.    Consultant’s responsibilities:

  • Design the teacher training program using existing manuals/modules
  • Support the implementation and stakeholder buy-in (especially local government education officials)
  • Plan and deliver the training with master trainers/teachers, SC staff, school principals and (relevant) local government education officials. Maximum number of participants per training session is 25 people.
  • Ask for and incorporate feedback from trainees during the training.
  • Develop monitoring and mentoring schedule to randomly selected schools regularly together with (relevant) local government education officials

III.    Expected deliverables outputs:

  • To build the knowledge and capacity of master trainers/teachers on inclusive education and on training others on inclusive education
  • To select schools with many students with disabilities, learning difficulties, migration background or other possible situations of disadvantage or vulnerability to monitor, learn lessons and document inclusive improvements

IV.    Duration/Timeframe:

  • Number of training days:  3 days.
  • Period of time: Expected time: In the end of August & in the beginning of September
  • Location: Ho Chi Minh City.

V.    Consultant’s Qualifications:

  • Educated to at least masters level
  • Proven experience of training of master trainers and teachers
  • Experience in measuring and evaluating the impact of training
  • Experience of working with local government education officials and with teacher training institutes
  • Familiarity with child rights and with diversity issues in education – especially disability and learning difficulties
  • Excellent spoken and written Vietnamese and English
