PATH is an international organization that drives transformative innovation to save lives and improve health, especially among women and children. We accelerate innovation across five platforms—vaccines, drugs, diagnostics, devices, and system and service innovations—that harness our entrepreneurial insight, scientific and public health expertise, and passion for health equity. By mobilizing partners around the world, we take innovation to scale, working alongside countries primarily in Africa and Asia to tackle their greatest health needs. Together, we deliver measurable results that disrupt the cycle of poor health. Working in Vietnam since the early 1980s, PATH established a permanent office in Hanoi in 1997.

In a new partnership aimed at ensuring and securing health for all, PATH recently joined the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other organizations to help advance the US government’s pledge to support, assist, and empower poor countries in anticipating, preventing, and overcoming infectious disease outbreaks. PATH’s Global Health Security (GHS) partnership, a 5-year effort funded by the CDC, will strengthen public health systems in Vietnam, Senegal, and Tanzania, building capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to emergencies of public health importance.

PATH seeks a Team Associate to provide support to the GHS Project in Vietnam. The Team Associate will report directly to the Project Director, based in Hanoi, Vietnam and liaise with other Mekong region communications staff. In addition, the Team Associate will coordinate with CDC Vietnam, and the Senior Communications Officer based in the US regarding content placement, partner engagement and global communications. This is a part-time position available on a one-year contract basis with the opportunity for extension. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Draft key advocacy materials for event-based surveillance implementation.
  • Draft/edit monthly updates, quarterly and annual donor reports and other donor/project communications.
  • Support the development of fact sheets, info-graphics, press releases, newsletters, and other products to illustrate the value and impact of GHS activities for a variety of external audiences.
  • Utilize digital channels, including the Vietnam subsite to PATH.org, the PATH Blog and others to promote GHS projects.
  • Regularly promote GHS achievements via internal PATH channels, including PATH Central and Spotlight.
  • Assist project managers in preparing presentations, summaries of project achievements, or other project metrics for internal reporting purposes.
  • Assist with English-language edits for technical reports, materials, SOPs, and promotion and training materials designed by PATH.
  • Assist with meeting planning, note-taking, and management of follow up and next steps.
  • Other tasks as required by the Project Director and Senior Communication Officer.
  • Routinely liaise with the CDC Vietnam Communications specialist on GHS-related communications.
  • Ensure communications clearance for a general audience through the proper CDC channels.

Required Skills

  • Native-level English speaker with the ability to write both technical and non-technical documents in concise and compelling English, edit material written by non-English speakers and meticulously proofread.
  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple assignments, establish organizational systems and structures, and support teams to stay on task.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a team in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
