Senior Project Officers

WWF is one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations, with almost 5 million supporters and a global network active in over 100 countries. WWF-Vietnam is one country component of the WWF Greater Mekong and is the implementing arm for projects in Vietnam mainly in Central Annamites, Southern Annamites and the Mekong Delta. Our major activities focus on Freshwater, Forestry, Marine and Aquaculture, Agriculture and Agroforestry, Policy and Advocacy.

We are currently seeking for well-qualified and experienced candidate for 02 full-time position:

1. SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER, working for Project “Promoting Responsible Forest Management and Restoration in Vietnam”. This position will be based in Quang Tri Province, travel and working in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam (and possible others) Provinces if required

2. SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER, working for Project “Strengthening Local Capacity on Biodiversity Conservation and Forest Management in the Southern Annamite Landscape, Vietnam”. This position will be based in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province.

Main responsibilities:

The Senior Project Officer provides support to the Program Manager in the planning, management, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities to ensure compliance with the Project  Document and WWF’s contractual obligations and ensure close collaboration between the project management, partners and other relevant stakeholders in the project sites

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in conservation, natural resource management, bioregional planning, environmental, or in relevant fields
- 5 years of practical experience as Project Officer, 2 years of which should be in in sustainable forest management, forest rehabilitation and forest certification (for position in IKEA project) or 2 years of experience on biodiversity conservation and forest management (for position in Jensen  project)
- Experience in conducting studies and coordinating research activities
- Experience of working with Government officials, local communities and/or donors at all levels
- Familiarity with the project area and local residence will be an asset
- Experience of working INGOs or the United Nations or bilateral development agencies is an advantage
- Knowledge of conservation and natural resource management issues in Viet Nam, especially in related fields such as sustainable forest management, forest rehabilitation and forest certification
- Knowledge of the realities of government agencies, development partners, donor institutions, and the not-for-profit sector in the project
- Proven in people management, coaching and capacity building/development, as well as project proposal development, financial management.
- Good interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills with the ability to manage and interact at all levels of an international, multicultural and multilingual organization; Excellent English skills
