Researcher at ISMS

The Institute of Social and Medical Studies (ISMS) is a leading nonprofit research institute working to advance public health and development in Vietnam. We aim to provide evidence that can be used to improve the lives and well-being of Vietnamese communities, particularly marginalized communities such as ethnic minorities, the poor, women, and children.

The ISMS Survey Center (ISMS-SC) is a research consulting group providing specialized services to advance sociomedical and public health research in Vietnam and surrounding regions. The Centre is looking for a qualified candidatefor the position of Researcher. The position will be based in Hanoi, with periodic travel as needed. Long-term contract is available, but the candidate is expected to commit to at least one year. The successful candidate will support senior researchers with health research and evaluation studies as well as grant writing.

Position: Researcher

Duty station: Ha Noi

Duration of the contract: long term

Key responsibilities:

• Provide support for planning of research studies including the development of research protocols, study design documents, submission of IRB forms, and development of research instruments;

• Participate in research implementation;

• Collect information, analyze data, and write report/paper (in English and Vietnamese);

• Assist in the preparation of research deliverables such as briefs and reports/journal articles;

• Support project management;

• Do other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree (preferably masters) in public health, sociology or related social sciences;

• Background knowledge of research in social science;

• Experience in doing research, both qualitative and quantitative methods;

• Proven ability in data analysis and writing;

• Fluency of English (4 skills) is required;

• Good skills using SPSS, Stata, Nvivo, MS Office

• Proven ability to deliver products within the deadlines, work with commitment and persistence;

• Good team work and independent work skills
