Public Health Regional Coordinator(Asia)

Agence de Médecine Préventive (AMP) is a non-profit organization with headquarters in Paris.

For its Hanoi office, AMP is hiring a Public Health Regional Coordinator for Asia.

Incumbent’s duties:

- Following the agreement between the Viet Nam MoH and the AMP’s SIVAC initiative (www.sivacinitiative.org) to collaborate on the development of a National Immunization Technical Advisory
Group (NITAG - in charge of developing recommendations on immunization for the National Authorities), he/she will :
o Support the Vietnam NITAG and more particularly its executive secretariat in developing, implementing, and monitoring its work plans.
o Support the NITAG in developing its re-organization including its Terms of Reference, recommended members, functioning mechanism.
o Support the preparation of the scientific and technical background work.
o Contribute in increasing the added-value of the NITAG for the Minister of Health and the health of the population and facilitate the integration of the NITAG in the national health system.
- In the framework of AMP’s strategy and collaborative agreements in the Southeast Asia Region, he/she will design new projects and consolidate public health networking/partnerships for the AMP Hanoi office.
- He/She will also contribute to the fundraising activities of the AMP Hanoi office which includes writing public health grants proposals, and promote on key achievements to external and internal partners.
- He/she will set up the monitoring and evaluation plan of all Public health projects at AMP Hanoi office.
- He/She will implement existing and new AMP’s projects in vaccinology and other health-related fields(applied research, training, organization of scientific and technical meetings…), in Viet Nam and in other Asia countries. This can include, for example, the coordination of new projects in Viet Nam and the implementation of the SIVAC initiative in other countries.

Qualifications:

- Medical Doctorate and MSc in Public Health or Health Policy or International Health.
- Good understanding / knowlAgence de Médecine Préventive (AMP)edge of the organization of the health systems and administration.
- Completely fluent in English.
- The following will be an asset:
o Knowledge of the Vietnamese and/or Asian health systems
o Good understanding / knowledge of the global immunization community (WHO, Unicef, Gavi, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation).
o Knowledge in Health Economics.
o Certificate or diploma in vaccinology
o Ability to work in French and/or Vietnamese and/or other Asian languages.

Required Experience:

- A minimum of at least 7 years of experience in the field of public health in an international environment.
- Experience in working with Ministries of Health (both decision and operational levels).
- Experience in working with WHO and other international organizations.
- The following would be significant assets :
o Experience in Viet Nam
o Experience in other Asian countries
o Experience in the area of Vaccine Preventable Diseases.
o Experience in developing and submitting grants proposals.
o Experience in evaluating public health projects.

Other requirements:

- Good organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to interact professionally and effectively with various players, including with senior positions at MoH and public health organizations (universities,research institutes…).
- Capacity to both easily integrate into a team and to work autonomously.
- Being agile, flexible and logical thinking.
- Being self-motivated, self-disciplined, result-oriented and good time management skills.
- Tact, discretion and sensitivity to cultural differences.

Conditions:
- The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and training.
- Short term full time contract – 12 months (with a possibility that will be evaluated later to extend the contract).
- The Public Health Medical Coordinator is administratively attached to the AMP’s office in Hanoi and is under the technical supervision of the Health Policy and Institutional Development (HPID) Unit.
