JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Protection Coordinator - Vietnam
Department: Protection
Reports To: Protection Program Manager

SUMMARY

The Protection Coordinator is responsible for carrying out project activities alongside the Program Manager to bring about the successful completion of specific goals and outcomes of the Protection Program. Responsibilities include: conducting meetings and training students, teachers, community members and leaders, and government partners in issues relating to human trafficking and child protection. Coordination of trainings and project implementation; participating in project planning including needs assessments, monitoring, evaluating and reporting project progress; and working closely with the Program Manager, Project Assistants and other program staff to complete project activities to implement the project successfully.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support the Program Manager with project start-up, planning and implementation through to evaluations:

  • Support the Program Manager to develop annual project plan, log frame, proposal and budget
  • Create clear monthly and weekly work plans and schedules.

2. Training activities:

  • Coordinate the development of protection curriculum and materials.
  • Coordinate training activities including training preparation, logistics, delivery, and training report writing.
  • Conduct trainings to students, teachers, community leaders, government officials, and other groups

3. Project implementation:

  • Coordinate and carry out activities in the project sites including trainings, baseline assessments and monitoring of staff including ICs and trainers
  • Complete monitoring and evaluation visits to field sites to measure the effectiveness of training and project activities

4. Program reporting:

  • Submit monthly internal qualitative and quantitative reports to the Program Manager on the progress of project activities.
  • Assist the Project Manager to complete quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

 

5. Coordinate and build relationships with relevant local government partners and community leaders:

  • Conduct meetings with government partners, community leaders and other stakeholders.

6. Finance management:

  • Request cash advances and ensure activity budgets are spent appropriately and according to donor requirements.
  • Collect clear and accurate receipts and create regular finance expense reports for activities completed with integrity

7. Work closely alongside the Program Manager and meet at least once bi-weekly

8. Maintain a high level of excellence with colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.

9. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Degree in Sociology, Protection, Social Work or related field
  • 2-3 years’ experience in leading workshops/trainings
  • 2-3 years’ experience in the field of human trafficking/protection work
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Vietnamese
  • Ability to travel to the highlands regularly to carry out project activities
  • Strong financial, time management and coordination skills
  • Passionate about issues related to trafficking, behavior change and community development
  • Willingness and ability to readily respond to changing circumstances and expectations
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Professional maturity; ability to keep the focus of work on the overall goals
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills - Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
