Project Officers to implement Community-Based Tourism (CBT) Project

The Centre for Rural Economy Development (CRED) is implementing the 4-year Community Based Tourism project in Ha Giang and Cao Bang provinces to help local communities to improve their livelihood, sanitation condition and preservation of traditional cultural identities. CRED is looking for two Vietnamese Project Officers based in the project sites.

One project officer bases in Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang) and the other bases in Cao Bang

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support to raise awareness of selected communities, local partners and relevant stakeholders on CBT, social, cultural ad environment responsibilities, and clarify the interests and commitment of selected communities on CBT development.
• Support farmers to formulate farmer interest groups and CBT Management Boards and assist them in technical, management and organizational aspects to respond to the CBT development needs
• Facilitate the local communities to identify, develop and operate tourism benefit sharing mechanism to ensure that tourism benefit will be distributed fairly to local community
• Facilitate the operation, management, and monitoring of CBT and Community Development Funds in a transparent and efficient manner
• Prepare logistics and facilitate trainings, workshop, study tours for farmers groups, communities and other relevant stakeholders, acting as the trainer and coach in his/her areas of competencies where relevant;
• Closely monitor the major investments made by project and by selected local households who involved in homestay operation and other related tourism services to ensure that these investments are in line with plan and sustainable development manner
• Involve in building capacity for local partners where relevant
• Contribute to the development of promotion and marketing program for CBT sites.
• Facilitate the business linkage between the tour operators, local partners and the farmer organizations

Required qualifications

• Bachelor or Master Degree in relevant field (i.e. Tourism, Business, Development Studies, etc.);
• Minimal 2 years of professional working experience in tourism industry, value chains, trade promotion or community development
• Experience in small grant management, establishment of farmers interest groups, and project M&E are advantages
• Good command of Vietnamese and English
• Speaking Dao, Mong, Tay and Nung languages is an advantage
