Project Officer

The Golden West Humanitarian Foundation is a United States based, non-profit charity dedicated to the development of innovative, appropriate technologies to overcome the operational limitations encountered by the humanitarian mine action community.

Since 1998, the Foundation has addressed critical shortfalls in heavily mine and UXO-impacted countries across the globe. Each year we have built on our innovative work from the past, uncovering and addressing the challenges that hinder clearance efforts. In 2006, GWHF expanded to Vietnam and since then, has been providing technical support in UXO clearance and MRE for children.

In 2014, a new Children’s Education Division project opened in Quang Binh province. The Swim for Life project is implemented in Dong Hoi city and Quan Hau district, providing equipment and technical support in safe swimming skills for children. The project officially started in August 2014 and up to now, we have built now 2 pool houses, 1 in Dong Phu primary school in Dong Hoi city and 1 in Quan Hau town primary school, Quan Hau town. We also conducted trainings in safe swimming teaching skill and first aid skill for 20 physical education teachers of different primary schools in project areas, including Dong Phu and Quan Hau school teachers.

The 2 schools has organized some swimming classes for their primary students last year and stopped during winter. This year 2016, we will resume the activities under Swim for Life project including refresh trainings, swimming classes, communication events etc. We will also be expanding our program in the areas of Water Safety Education (out-of-pool training) and Broad Community Awareness of Drowning Prevention.

We are looking for qualified candidates based in Quang Binh Province for the position of Project Officer under Swim for Life project.
