SNV Vietnam is currently seeking a highly qualified national candidate to manage the day-to- day support for our Climate Smart Agriculture and Gender programme in the position of Project Assistant cum Junior Advisor on capacity building. This programme is currently made up of two projects: Enhancing Opportunities for Women's Enterprises (EOWE) and Women's Economic Empowerment through Agriculture Value Chain Enhancement (WEAVE). Excellent organizational skills, commitment and striving to learn and grow with the women’s empowerment programme, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate and train effectively are important qualifications and skills needed for this position.

Responsibilities:

Project assistance:

  • Provide overall programme support to the project manager and the programme team to ensure the projects operate smoothly and effectively.
  • Support in preparation, consolidation and management of contracts, partner contracts (in collaboration with advisors), program/ project documentation and correspondence.
  • Together with advisors-in charge, follow-up on partner contracts and contract implementation, financial advances, reporting and clearance.
  • Provide projects with M&E support in line with the M&E plan assigned by the project manager and M&E advisor. Tasks include regular filed monitoring to track progress, and collect data on results, targets, milestones, performance and changes in the lifetime of the projects; supporting the M&E advisor to enter and update data.
  • Make travel and logistics arrangement for project events, missions, visitors, workshops/meetings etc.
  • Provide interpretation/translation in case of need
  • Manage the filing storage (hard and soft copies), including consolidating and uploading project agendas, plans and reports to the appropriate SNV shared drives.

Junior advisory services:

  • Together with and supported by technical lead-advisors, to assist development, implementation and documentation of:
    • Business-related capacity building (e.g. financial inclusion, Farmer Field Schools, post-harvest processing etc.) for target business groups, including farmer households, primary producers, cooperatives and SMEs.
    • Capacity building of local partners on gender transformation, including the “5 Capabilities approach”.
    • Capacity building of local partners on compliance with SNV and donors’ project management and financial regulations (together with Project accountant, advisors)
  • Together with and supported by the SNV gender specialist to update the guidance and deployment of Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) activities in the project.
  • Together with and supported by the project manager, develop own capacity to support advisory tasks on partnership and advocacy for both projects, as per activity plan and team role division.

Other tasks:

  • Support the Project Manager and M&E advisors on the consolidation of inputs for narrative and financial monitoring and reporting.
  • Support relevant business development initiatives within and beyond the programme

Candidate profile

  • Committed Vietnamese citizen
  • University degree in economics, developments, business management or relevant subject
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience at international organisation(s)
  • Keen to learn by doing
  • Understanding and experience in development, business, project management, monitoring and evaluation is preferable
  • Passion for community development, business
  • Takes initiative and creative in solving problems
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Good organisational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills (English and Vietnamese)
  • Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email)
  • Willing to travel to other provinces

Contract:

  • The position is based in Hanoi, with frequent visits to project sites in five provinces.
  • The position reports to the Project Manager of the programme.
  • SNV Vietnam offers a one-year employment contract, with the possibility for extension subject to performance and budget availability.
