Local Consultant to Assist LEAF’s Activities in Nghe An

Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forests (LEAF) is a five-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development and implemented by Winrock International in partnership with SNV - Netherlands Development Organization, Climate Focus, and the Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC). The main purpose of the project is to strengthen the capacity of participating Southeast Asian countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from their forestry sectors, and support these countries so that they can benefit from the emerging international REDD+ framework.

Piloting innovative approaches to reducing emissions through sustainable land use management is an important component of LEAF, and is being undertaken in both Lam Dong and Nghe An provinces in Vietnam. In Nghe An Province, the critical component of LEAF’s site work in Con Cuong District, Nghe An Province is to enhance the livelihoods of those communities while reducing the pressure on forests, supporting the forest protection as well as to mitigate deforestation and forest degradation; creating appropriate mechanism to attract local households in participating into forest management practice as well as to increase income for the local community surrounding the forest area.

LEAF is now seeking a local consultant to assist all LEAF’ activities in Nghe An, especially the pilot activities of Community Based Forest Management Planning (CBFM) in Con Cuong.

The consultancy is planned for a period of 64 days over a period of 8 months, expected from November 2014 to June 2015. Based in Nghe An and frequent travel to project site.

The local consultant will provide both technical and logistic support for all activities of LEAF in Nghe An. Detailed tasks and qualification requirements please see more in attached ToR.
