Livestock Specialist

SNV Vietnam is preparing a proposal related to reducing carbon emissions from the livestock sector in Vietnam. To support this proposal development, we are seeking an experienced Vietnamese Livestock Specialist for a short-time consultancy assignment, with the requirements listed as below.

Responsibilities

The Livestock Specialist will be responsible for providing technical inputs and collaborating closely with the Proposal Lead and other technical specialists. Specifically, the Livestock Specialist will:

  • Join a one day design meeting to prepare the overall technical approach
  • Provide technical inputs as requested by the Proposal Lead, which may include information about e.g. animal husbandry, breeding, feed, manure management, livestock markets or other topical areas related to the livestock value chain
  • Join meetings as requested with relevant government departments or other stakeholders
  • Contribute to identifying and reviewing background materials (research reports, scoping documents etc.)  which could contribute to the technical approach

Qualifications:

  • MSc. in agriculture, animal husbandry, environment, emission reduction or other relevant fields of study and related experience;
  • At least 5 years of experience working on international development projects;
  • Experience in livestock value chain, livestock breeding, feed production, pasture and waste management;
  • Experience in advocacy and strategy development;
  • History of close coordination with relevant government bodies (e.g. MONRE and MARD);
  • Fluency in English and excellent written and oral communication ability.
