TOR – Gender Empowerment and policy advocacy Specialist (Gender Specialist)

Background:

Union Aid Abroad APHEDA is implementing the project on Promoting Gender Equality in Political Decision Making in Vietnam. The project is aimed at improving the status of women in Vietnam and strengthening women’s rights to equality through increasing the representation of women in politics. The project is working in partnership with People’s Council and Women’s Union in provinces of Bac Kan, Hai Duong and Phu Yen and other related offices.

APHEDA is seeking a qualified Gender Empowerment and policy advocacy Specialist (Gender Specialist) for the Project on Promoting Gender Equality in Political Decision Making in Vietnam and other Gender projects of APHEDA.

The Gender Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Gender projects.

Duration of the position: 1 year with possible extension.

General

  • Experience within INGO context
  • Understand Gender issues and gender context in Vietnam and good understanding of the challenges facing women in politics
  • Understand approaches and know how to plan to promote gender equality and women in politics

Project implementation:

  • Implement project activities; conduct participatory meetings with stakeholders, partners
  • Prepare technical report (monthly, six month and annual) according to reporting format. Be familiar with the Project documentation including project contracts, submissions and activity plans
  • Assist Country Manager and Experts to develop implementation plans, monitoring and evaluation system and reports.
  • Provided and/or coordinate technical assistance and support to partners, counterpart staff and advisors as required.

Advocacy and communication

  • Support in reviewing the advocacy plan to identify different approaches to achieve project objectives
  • Develop content, texts, information materials and products promoting the image of the project including photo, video clip, training materials … for the media and for publication.

Interpreting and Translation

  • Assist with written translation of project documents as required.

Support Services

  • Assist for regularly updating news collected Mass Media and from other information sources related to the project and office and file in the relevant folder

Required qualifications, skills and experience:

  • University degree with at least 5 years working experiences on advocacy, gender and other related field;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Vietnamese and English;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Experiences on translation of meeting, training, workshop;
  • Proactive and independent work style;
  • Demonstrated skills in working with colleagues and collaborators of different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Good organizer.
