About the G4AW program

Geodata for Agriculture and Water (G4AW) projects are public-private partnerships with the objective to improve food security in developing countries by using satellite data. Netherlands Space Office (NSO) is executing this programme, commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The G4AW GREEN coffee programma in Vietnam is a consortium of partners which will implement a financially sustainable information service that supports 100.000 coffee farmers to increase their production, income, food security and reduces the inputs of water, fertilizer and pesticides. The service will eventually be owned and hosted by the Vietnamese company ERIPT with support from the public-private Dutch and Vietnamese partners. The services can easily be extended for other types of crops and/or implemented to other regions in Indonesia.

Purpose of the job

Responsible for the development and realization of the objectives and strategy of the GREENcoffee programs, particularly in Monitoring and Evaluation, for conducting activities and generating publications and reports that provide consortium members or other stakeholders insights into the progress and results of GREENcoffee.

And for Business Development, to support the development relevant information services that users are willing to pay for.

Responsibilities

A. Business Development

  • Collection of Relevant Market Information from existing and potential clients of GREENcoffee
    Conducts periodic market research by interviewing existing and potential clients of GREENcoffee, to know what are the specific information needed by the clients, and their willingness to pay for such information.
  • Formulation of the Business Model
    Information collected from the different users is translated into a business case and proposition.
    The viability and feasibility of the business propositions is tested and a corresponding business model is developed to show how revenue can be generated.
  • Promotion of GREENcoffee to existing and potential clients
    Attends meetings with existing and potential clients of GREENcoffee to devlier the business proposition to promote the service and the relevant information products by presenting the features, benefits, revenue and delivery schemes of GREENcoffee. Aims to bring in more clients and users of GREENcoffee. Responsible also for collective inputs from the clients for further service development.
  • Communication of Findings and Recommendation to WP5 Manager
    Consolidates inputs gathered from meetings, market research and impact or performance of business propositions for submission to the WP5 manager and dissemination to other partners. It will include recommendations as needed.

B. Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Collection and consolidation of M&E data for GREENcoffee
    Travel to project areas to Interview farmers, input suppliers, buyers, and other users of GREENcoffee and other respondents to get specific monitoring data from the field and to track the outcomes and impact of using GREENcoffee. Supervises the activities of enumerators and provides M&E–related coaching and mentoring to them as needed.
    Supports the WP4 manager in the formulation and digitization of survey questionnaires, data cleaning, analysis and interpretation.
  • Preparation of M&E reports for submission to WP4 Manager
    Prepares draft reports based on the M&E framework of GREENcoffee NSO reporting requirements for review by the WP4 manager

Qualifications needed

  • Operational knowledge on Business Development; at least 2 years working experience on doing market research and conducting client calls
  • Operational knowledge on M&E; at least 2 years working experience on M&E
  • Sectoral knowledge on coffee will be an advantage
  • Relevant work experience within the South East Asia region and a relevant network in Vietnam.
  • Collection and analysis of market information
  • Development of business propositions and cases; formulation of the corresponding business models
  • client inputs/feedback, to inform managers and partners on the viability of the business case and provide recommendations as needed
  • Collection and analysis of M&E data to inform managers and partners on the progress and impact of the GREENcoffee and provide recommendations as needed
  • Fluent in both English and Vietnamese.
  • Willingness to spend much time in the field and work closely with program target groups.
