Expert on H’Mong’s Language, Tradition and Culture

We are looking for a person for the positions of Expert on H’Mong’s Language, Tradition and Culture

Objectives of the Consultancy:

To assist in developing effective and appropriate IEC materials and training manuals and training/ communication approach and methodologies for H’Mong group.

Consultant’s responsibilities:

To achieve abovementioned objectives, the Expert on H’Mong Language, Tradition and Culture will carry out the following tasks:

  • Provide guidance on the culture and social practices of the H’Mong ethnic group to the project staff and project partners;
  • Ensure that the project interventions/activities are suitable for the traditions and customs of H’Mong;
  • Assist in developing suitable IEC materials and training manuals on low cost agriculture technique and maternal and child nutrition care for H’Mong group;
  • Assist in developing and adjusting the food security and health and nutrition training and communication approach and methodology to make it suitable for the tradition and culture of H’Mong; and
  • Ensure that IEC materials, training manuals and training/communication approach and methodology are in compliance with World Bank’s safeguards policy and SCI’s Child Safeguarding policy.

Consultant’s Requirements:

  • BA degree or higher in one of these fields: social science/ culture/ anthropology/ development/ other related fields;
  • At least 3-year experience working with H’Mong group;
  • Proficiency in H’Mong language and solid understanding of the traditions and customs of H’Mong;
  • Demonstrated capacity in developing training manual and IEC material;
  • Able to stay in the field for extended period of time;
  • Priority given to those proficient in spoken and written English;
  • Priority given to those experienced in development projects.
