Who we are

We’re Population Services International (PSI), the world’s leading non-profit social marketing organization. We work to make it easierfor people in the developing world to be healthy by providing access to products and services that range from mosquito nets to HIV testing.

There are over 9,000 “PSI’ers” around the world. It’s a motley group of entrepreneurs and professionals with a diverse range of backgrounds all the way from the medical industry to the music business, all with unique skills we bring to the job. PSI Vietnam is a branch of PSI Global and has operated since 2005 with a strong focus on non-traditional funding, corporate and philanthropic partnerships, and regional collaboration with PSI network members in South East Asia to deliver health impact in the areas of HIV, reproductive health, malaria elimination, safe water/sanitation/hygiene, and non-communicable diseases.

PSI is seeking entrepreneurial, dynamic candidates with significant leadership experience in Vietnam or other countries in SE Asia and historical success in managing an organization with diverse teams and used to a fast-paced, demanding environment. This leader should also have experience and/or show capacity and will be held responsible for meeting goals in new business development, technical work plan execution, social marketing, social and behavior change communication and internal controls standards. The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall development, management (financial, administrative, and programmatic), execution and monitoring and evaluation of all PSI Vietnam programs. Your contribution

Strategic Direction

Leading an organization to meet the strategic objectives of PSI Vietnam is critical. This includes setting annual objectives and constantly leading efforts to achieve targets related to health impact, organizational development and strategic partnerships.

Developing and Managing Strong Programs

Building new business is a team effort and must ensure participation of key team members including PSI support team members and headquarters technical departments alike. Generating new business in the SE Asia context requires proactively creating connections/opportunities through external engagement as well as high-quality responses to requests for proposals. Throughout, quality standards and contractual compliance must serve as the backbone of all fundraising and partnership development efforts.

Managing Human Resources Effectively

Our work relies on the skills, talents, and motivation of our teams. Strong teams are built through effective recruitment, building a positive team environment that encourages transparency and open-communication, investing in staff development and through performance management.

Ensuring Financial and Internal Controls are Strong

Just as critical as technical excellence is the strength of the organization’s internal quality standards and internal controls and compliance. Overall budget development, implementation, delivering on goals, and management together with ensuring all PSI Vietnam (and partner/donor) policies and procedures are upheld are paramount.

External Relations

Building and keeping strong partnerships with National and provincial government agencies; key stakeholders including bilateral funders, UN agencies, private sector partners and other civil society partners will require consistent engagement. We also need to supervise public relations efforts, host donor visits, and supervise the development of any other PR publications or activities.

Our needs

  • Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.)
  • At least ten years work experience in a developing market context; including three in Vietnam
  • Experience in leading/general manager of an organization and/or business of comparable scope.
  • Significant management experience, preferably in public health, marketing, or another relevant field
  • Demonstrated ability to attract talented staff, motivate them, and build their capacity
  • Demonstrated strengths in strategic organizational leadership and external relations
  • Knowledge of international development and health issues preferred
  • Strong marketing and research-based decision making skills
  • Familiarity with public-private partnerships as well as international funders
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • Fluency in both English and Vietnamese.
